Briarcrest's Simply Ir-Reese-Istible!
The night we lost Reese, we were tube feeding the puppies. Lilac’s feeding tube was noticeably shorter than the others. My mom wondered if we had mismeasured, but through tears I said, “No—she’s just perfect like her mom.”
From the very beginning, Margaux reminded me so much of Reese. Like her mother, she had a beautiful head, correct proportions and a lovely short back. The first time I put her on the table, I was thrilled to see she also had a balanced, well-angled body to complement that darling face. Every day, I see more of Reese in this sweet girl—from her expression and temperament to her adorable little “smize” and the way her head quivers with excitement for food. I also see so much of her grandfather, Cooper, and grandmother, Harper, which makes her even more special.
Margaux made her show ring debut shortly after turning six months old and immediately exceeded my expectations. She won her classes at her first few shows before earning Reserve Winners Bitch in lovely competition. Just before turning nine months old, she attended her first Golden Retriever Specialty under one of my favorite judges, Mr. Dana Cline. As he approached to examine her expression, his face immediately lit up with a smile, which was exactly the reaction I had hoped for. That day, Margaux earned a prestigious 4-point Reserve Winners Bitch and Best Puppy in Specialty.
She remained undefeated in Best Puppy competitions and added another 4-point Reserve Winners Bitch just before her first birthday under another favorite judge, Mrs. Molly Martin. Mrs. Martin just happens to be the judge that gave me my first major on Cooper, my first point on Reese and finished Twiggy’s grand championship with a Best of Breed and 5 point major. At a little over a year old, Margaux won her first major under another favorite judge of mine, Mr. Michael Canalizo. I am truly thrilled by her success under judges I hold in such high regard.
When she isn’t in the conformation ring, Margaux has proven to be just as enthusiastic about scent work, and easily completed her Novice Scent Work title before turning a year old. Perhaps even more importantly, she has become an exceptional traveler, hotel dog, and expert snuggler.
I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this sweet girl!
